A Second Family

A Conversation with a Team Member at Refugee Artisan Initiative.

This RAI team member, who wished to remain anonymous, immigrated to the US from Vietnam and used her sewing skills to become a RAI artisan. She later became the office bookkeeper as she had a previous working experience in Vietnam in that role. Now, she feels like she’s in her dream job at RAI.

What inspired you be a part of RAI?

I wanted to be part of RAI because I love to be part in the helping of giving a second chance to refugee families to establish a new life in the USA.

What do you like best about your job at RAI?

What I love the best about working at RAI is that I get to work with artisans from around the world with different cultures, religions and background. Also, RAI helped me to become an accountant and improve my English skills.

What excites you the most about RAI?

I am happy to come work at RAI because I feel it’s my second family. RAI teams work together in a positive environment.

What are your hopes for the future of RAI?

I hope RAI will be able to get more help and grants from the State and Government so we can grow and reach more refugees women around the world to be independent and a better life for themselves and their families.

I hope for RAI to have a bright future with a good leadership and a national and worldwide recognition for its effort to help to most vulnerable women and their families.

Is there anything else you want to add?

I just need to add that I’m so grateful and proud of the work that RAI is doing and hoping RAI  continue in great mission forever.
