Careers at RAI

Thanks for your interest in working for Refugee Artisan Initiative! We are currently hiring for the following positions:

Grants and Development Manager (Full Time)

Range: $29.00-$32.00 per hour, DOE

Reports To: Director of Development & Communications

Direct Reports: N/A

Location: 12337 Lake City Way NE, Seattle, WA 98125

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. May require some evenings and weekends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(0-5%) Prospect Research: RAI has a robust portfolio of public and private prospects for grants and other funding. While prospect research is not the primary focus of RAI’s grant work currently, in the long term it will be helpful to research what local funders align with RAI’s goals. Additionally, focused research may be needed to find funding for specific needs at RAI.

(10-15%) Relationship Building:With many potential prospects, RAI needs support organizing prospects, reaching out to schedule initial meetings, asking questions to funders, attending information webinars, sharing appreciation, etc. This includes monitoring requests and requirements for acknowledgement of specific grants and coordinating this acknowledgement with funders.

(10-40%) Grant Writing:RAI submits an average of 1-4 grant proposals per month. These proposals range widely in size (5K - $1M) and funder type (private, city, state, county, federal). We need assistance drafting grant proposals, as well as coordinating the budget and outcomes for projects with RAI’s program staff.

(10-40%) Contract Management:Insurance COIs, ACH forms, securitization, matching funds, budget revisions, and more: the majority of grants that RAI receives require extensive documentation before they can move to the contract and invoicing stages. This process takes proactive follow up, an eye for detail, and the ability to keep track of multiple deadlines–as well as patience and a sense of humor!

(10-15%) Reporting and Storytelling:RAI has contracted with FPNW for assistance in invoicing and reporting on the larger, public grants in RAI’s portfolio. The contract grant writer’s narrative work will need review by a staff person who is familiar with RAI’s messaging style and daily work. RAI also needs assistance transforming data on program accomplishments into compelling narratives that tell the story of the organization’s impact.

(10-30%) Additional Development:RAI needs additional development support, including with stewardship of supporters and also with messaging (e.g. creating content for acknowledgements, appreciation, appeals, presentations, mailings, annual reports, and more). There are also opportunities to lead efforts to create programs and processes around planned giving, monthly giving, and other development initiatives.
