Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center Features Ming-Ming Tung-Edelman in their Enduring Covid-19 Series

In April 2021, Marcus Harrison Green of South Seattle Emerald spoke with Ming-Ming Tung Edelman, RAI Executive Director and Founder. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center included her story as part of their Enduring COVID-19 | Stories from Our Transforming World. 

"This was a community effort with one goal: to fight Covid-19...The pandemic has been transformative for us. When COVID-19 first hit in March 2020, we were able to realize our strengths and pivot very quickly to provide what the community needed. Suddenly, sewing became a very valuable skill … to make masks, medical scrubs and face shields."

"Partnering with Swedish Health System and their Community Health Investment we are making medical scrubs. All these opportunities allow us to hire more refugee and immigrant women coming to Seattle and using their sewing skills to make critical items while supporting for their families."
