As you know, low-income students and students experiencing homelessness suffered greatly from school closures related to COVID. For that reason, our refugee artisan women will be making 500 back-to-school bundles, including a pencil case, a reusable sandwich bag and snack pack, and a mask to pack in backpacks for students in need. We have four community partners in Renton and Seattle ready to distribute them.
As always, these cheery packages are made entirely from donated, upcycled fabrics. The funds raised will go to pay a living wage to the artisans for their sewing projects, in addition to ongoing training, assistance with setting up their own businesses and language classes.
